Take on a critical role in developing secondary mathematics resources for a market leading Australian publisher. Cambridge University Press, one of the most respected publishing companies in the world, seeks a Development Editor to work on mathematics projects and products for the national education market.

Objective
The successful candidate will provide support in designing, developing, and delivering mathematics textbooks, ebooks, teacher support, digital resources and other instructional materials for secondary schools throughout Australia, in line with Press standards and organisational requirements. This position would suit a recent graduate.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting Publishers and Commissioning Editors in the development of mathematics resources, both print and digital
  • Liaising with authors and consultants throughout the manuscript creation process
  • Preparing and developing manuscripts for handover Conducting market research in anticipation of new titles and to keep aware of the changing needs of the marketplace Maintaining an up-to-date database of information about the market
  • Participating in regular publishing and production meetings
  • Attend workshops and conferences where required Potential responsibility for some new print and digital titles

The successful candidate will have:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • An interest in mathematical education and the presentation of learning resources in print and digital media
  • Strong mathematical skills to at least senior secondary level
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities
  • Keen analytical and research skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive outlook and enthusiastic attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Editing and publishing experience would be an advantage
