Our Client is at the forefront of research and development of robust tools that efficiently extract intelligence and unforeseen insights from “Big Data”. Working with Australia’s Defence and National Securities agencies, these solutions will maximise the ability to make critical decisions faster and more accurately – helping to build a safer and more secure nation.To address this need, our Client is looking for Software Engineers to write Javascript/HTML web apps with ReactJS, and back-end services using modern Java 8. Most of their projects use Big Data technologies (scale-out NoSQL graph databases), stream processing frameworks, distributed message brokers (think Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch), so any understanding of Big Data environments would be a definite bonus!

This organisation prides itself on doing Agile the right way – you’ll need to be a good communicator and be able play nicely with others. The cross-functional teams provision infrastructure, write code, deploy apps and debug production issues.

We’re looking for strong coders, but you’ll get bonus points if you can admin a database or know your way around Linux. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics or statistics;
  • A minimum of five years of experience in software engineering;
  • Strong Java programming experience;
  • Javascript, HTML & CSS programming experience (using frameworks such as ReactJS/Angular);
  • Designed, implemented and tested software components; and
  • The ability to work in an Agile environment

Ideally, we see the perfect candidate as someone who has had experience with stakeholder engagement in geographically distributed teams; has worked with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark and graph databases; and is comfortable with search technologies such as Elasticsearch, solr, and lucene.
In return you will have the opportunity to be a part of and contribute to a great culture and work environment in either Adelaide or Canberra; will face challenging problems and learn to solve them with other smart people; and contribute to the on-going security of Australia’s great way of life… there is also

  • Competitive salary;
  • Flexible work hours;
  • Comfy chairs; and
  • Delicious coffee

Tetracon acknowledge the unique contribution that all potential candidates can bring in terms of culture, ethnicity, race, gender, nationality, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, experiences, opinions and beliefs – in acquiring talent for our clients, diversity simply means good business sense! That said, applicants must be eligible to apply for an Australian security clearance.
