NSWBC’s national commercial services division Australian Business Solutions Group (ABSG) includes Registered Training and Group Training Organisations; seven recruitment and on-hire divisions; Australian Apprenticeships Centre (28 offices throughout NSW); and legal and consulting services.

The Role
Reporting to the Strategic Insights Manager, the Strategic Insights Analyst will play a pivotal role in the support and future development of the business by generating insights and identifying compelling opportunities & strategies based on analytics to the senior management leadership teams. Suitable for a recent graduate or junior candidate, you will be able to demonstrate outstanding communication skills, be technically sound and willing to learn and work on diverse projects across the business unit. Adequate support and training will be provided to the successful candidate to ensure your career growth with us. This role will mainly perform technical works (data extraction and analysis, statistical modelling, visualisation, forecasting and general business analysis); and it is crucial that you will have the skills to explain technical concepts and findings to stakeholders.

The vision is to support a culture of data-driven decision making to help the business to achieve its’ strategic and operational objectives by providing information that is accurate, timely, relevant, complete, unbiased and actionable.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Economics, statistics, or science – a Post-graduate in similar field is a plus
  • Statistical knowledge
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in using statistical package – experience with R would be highly regarded
  • Experience in database and SQL would be advantageous
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to see tasks through to conclusion
  • Demonstrate negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Demonstrate organisational and time management expertise
  • Demonstrate service oriented approach, enthusiastic, motivated, positive attitude, good initiative and a self-starter
  • Analytical skills, critical analysis
  • Tertiary education in quantitative areas such as: engineering,
  • Data extraction from internal CRM/database
  • Data analysis and visualisation
  • Customer profiling and segmentation
  • Build and maintain statistical model
  • Forecasting
  • General business analysis
